This 1974 Dodge Challenger was reportedly the subject of a two-year refurbishment ending in 2010 which included sheet metal replacement, a repaint in red, a powertrain swap, and a customized interior. Modifications consist of cross-drilled and slotted Wilwood disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, Moser Engineering axles, a triangulated four-bar rear suspension system, a Vintage air HVAC system, and TMI Pro-Classic low-back bucket seats. A 408ci Mopar V8 routes power through a Keisler Engineering Stage 3 four-speed automatic transmission, and additional equipment includes an Eagle rotating assembly, a Be Cool radiator, a Perma-Cool oil cooler, an MSD ignition system, and a Comp Cams camshaft. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2017 and subsequent work included installing front and rear spoilers, a radiator support, subframe connectors, and an inner fender brace.
The car was repainted red following replacement of the glass and various body panels during the 2010 refurbishment. Work performed under current ownership in 2017 including fitting a later-model Dodge Challenger front grille, a rear bumper, a front valance, and a spoiler with Demon badging. Additional features include black trim, tinted windows, a vented hood with hold-down pins, and quad-exit exhaust outlets.
Black-painted 18″ five-spoke wheels are mounted with Nitto NT01 tires all around. Rack-and-pinion steering is fitted, and the braking system features cross-drilled and ventilated discs clamped by Wilwood six-piston calipers up front with four-piston units out back. Control Freak suspension components are installed up front, while the rear features an Art Morrison triangulated four-bar setup.
The interior is fitted with TMI Pro-Classic low-back front bucket seats upholstered in black with patterned inserts. Amenities include a Vintage Air HVAC system, power windows, a custom center console, and an integrated touchscreen stereo with Kenwood amplifiers and trunk-mounted subwoofers.
A Lecarra Mark 9 Supreme steering wheel frames Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra-Lite instruments including a 160-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows 4,400 miles, which is said to have been traveled since the completion of the build. Total chassis mileage is unknown.
The 408ci V8 was built by DJ’s Performance Shop of Mooresburg, Tennessee, and is modified with ARP hardware, an Eagle rotating assembly, a Quick Fuel 750-cfm carburetor, a Be Cool radiator, a Perma-Cool oil cooler, MSD ignition, a Comp Cams camshaft, and an Edelbrock aluminum water pump. The radiator support was replaced under current ownership, and service performed since 2019 reportedly included fluid changes as well as repairing a starter wire and replacing the power steering pump. Cold starting is said to require multiple presses of the accelerator pedal.
A Keisler Engineering Stage 3 four-speed automatic transmission is installed along with Moser Engineering axles. Subframe connectors are said to have been added under current ownership.
