This 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham is one of 400 produced for the model year and was purchased by the seller in Washington in 2013. Subsequent refurbishment work included a repaint in black, an overhauled green leather interior, and a rebuilt 365ci V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a brushed stainless steel roof panel, power windows, power-assisted brakes, power steering, air conditioning, a push-button AM radio, and an Autronic Eye headlight dimmer. Additional equipment includes Kelsey-Hayes wheels, “Dagmar” bumper guards, and a “batwing” dual-oil-bath air cleaner.
Each Eldorado Brougham featured a hand-assembled body with a pillarless brushed stainless steel roof. This example was refinished in black (110) in 2014 and features “Dagmar” bumper guards, quad headlights, rear quarter fins, and rear-hinged rear passenger doors. Additional refurbishment work during current ownership included polishing, re-plating, or replacing the brightwork as well as welding in repair panels before the paintwork. The dual exhaust extensions for the rear bumper openings are missing and the left door mirror is loose. A replacement left door mirror will accompany the car, and paint chips can be seen below the windshield molding and on the leading edge of the hood. The trunk lock was repaired in 2023.
15″ Kelsey-Hayes wheels wear chrome covers and are wrapped in 225/75 BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial whitewall tires. According to the seller, the factory air suspension has been replaced with traditional springs, and braking is handled by power-assisted hydraulic drums. The brakes were adjusted in October 2023.
The interior was refurbished under current ownership and features bench seats upholstered in green leather along with matching door panels, replacement green carpets, and a green dash panel. The data tag indicates trim code 000-1, indicating a special-order interior. Equipment includes a power-adjustable front seat, power windows, folding armrests, an Autronic Eye headlight dimmer, and a push-button AM radio. The seller notes that the dash-top upholstery needs to be stretched and re-secured and that the steering wheel is off-center while driving. The power seat and the air conditioning do not work. Replacement air-conditioning plumbing parts and replacement knobs for the dashboard and doors will accompany the car.
The color-matched steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, generator charge, and fuel level. According to the seller, the instrument cluster lights function but the gauges do not work. The speedometer and odometer were repaired in 2023. The five-digit odometer shows 94k miles, and the total mileage is unknown.
The 365ci V8 features dual four-barrel carburetors and was factory rated at 325 horsepower. The engine was rebuilt in June 2014 and reassembled with replacement cylinder heads, and was disassembled again in 2018 to install replacement rod bearings. Additional features include a “batwing” dual-oil-bath air cleaner and Cadillac-script valve covers. The carburetors were rebuilt and the fuel pump was replaced in 2019, the battery was replaced in March 2021, and service in 2023 included changing the fluids, and repairing the radiator and hood latch. In 2024 the carburetors were rebuilt, the fuel pump was serviced, and the spark plugs, ignition wires, and fuel hoses were replaced.
